Orion Telescopes & Binoculars released new products multiple times each year. Because the company utilized a wide range of online ecommerce channels—U.S./Canada and European websites, seven Amazon marketplaces, and Walmart—each launch required coordination across several departments and specific processes for each channel. In addition, new items had to be integrated into various XML product feeds used by comparison shopping engines, affiliate programs, and remarketing partners. Combined with the use of multiple internal product and content management tools, the overall process was complex.
To support accuracy and consistency within the internet marketing team, I developed a series of standard operating procedures covering each step of a new-product release. The document below provides one example—an SOP outlining how to add a new product to Orion’s Amazon European channels. Screenshots from Orion’s proprietary order management and content management systems have been blurred to protect confidential information.
Capabilities Demonstrated
This project reflects my ability to:
translate complex product introduction requirements into a structured, repeatable process
organize multi-step operational work so it can be executed accurately and consistently
anticipate logistical and data dependencies that often derail product launches
document real operating work in a way that others can follow without constant supervision
provide clarity where ambiguity previously slowed execution
balance ecommerce channel requirements with practical workflow design
create documentation that reduces errors and increases confidence in execution
